On July 3, 2019 (Vikari Aani Thiruvadhirai), the annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal Koil, West Mamblam, Chennai, commenced grandly. In the morning, Dwajarohanam took place at around 7-7-30 am.
This was followed by thiruveedhi purappadu for Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal and Ubhayanachiyars on Thanga Kedayam at around 9 am. Perumal was accompanied by Senai Mudalvar, Aadi Seshan and Garudan. Sudarsana Azhwar in a separate palki (small) took the lead during the purappadu. As is customary, Divya Prabhandha ghoshti led the purappadu from the front while the Veda parayana ghoshti followed close behind the Divya Dampathis.
Later in the evening of Day 1, Perumal had purappadu on Hamsa vahanam. On the previous evening (July 2, 2019), Senai Mudalvar had thiruveedhi purappadu prior to the commencement of the utsavam. Several astikas are participating in the utsavam to receive the blessing of the Divya Dampathis.
