Sri Thirumangai Azhwar utsavam was celebrated in a grand manner in Sri Amaruviappan temple at Therezhundur. Vishesha Alankaram, Aradhanam, Sattrumurai was performed today morning. Perumal purappadu took place and Azhwar did mangalasasanam for Perumal. Azhwar was felicitated by the Divya Dampathis.
He was born in Thirukurayalur on Krthikai Nakshatram in Karthikai month. He is believed to be an incarnation of Sarangam(Bow) of mahavishnu.
He visited almost all the Divyadesams and praised and sung various paasurams on him. He wrote 6 prabhandham; Periya Thriumozhi-1084, Thirukkurunthandagam-(4*5)=20, Thirunedunthandagam-(6*5)=30, Thiru vezhukootirukkai-1, Siriya Thrumadal-(38+2)=40, Periya Thirumadal-78.
Swami Desikan has praised Sri Thirumangai azhwar and his works in his Prabhandha Saram and in detail about his life history in a single pasuram.
