Kanu Pongal was celebrated in a very grand manner in Sri Soundaravalli samedha Sri Soundararaja Perumal temple at Nagapattinam. On the occasion of kanu Pongal, thirumanjanam was performed for thayar with turmeric, sandal paste, milk, curd, honey, and thayar was adorned with new saree and got ready for celebrating kanu. Rice balls of different colours were prepared and it was displayed on tutmeric leaves, in front of thayar, and deepa harathi was performed and those leaves with balls were left in the Sarapushkarani.
