Ekadina Brahmotsavam In Sri Damodaraperumal Temple At Villivakkam

Ekadina Brahmotsavam was celebrated in Sri Amirthavalli Samedha Sri Sowmya DamodaraPerumal temple at Villivakkam today. Due to pandemic situation prevailing across the world, strictly adhering to the rules laid by the government, to avoid crowding in public places, Annual Brahmotsavam which would be held in the month of Vaikasi every year(may-June) could not be celebrated. As per religious fervour and agama rules, Prayaschitham Brahmotsavam was organised by the temple authorities. Every year, brahmotsavam was celebrated for ten days, commencing with dwajarohanam, followed by purappadu every morning and in the evening, in different vahanams every day.

This year, as a part of Prayaschitha Brahmotsavam, Perumal was adorned in different vahanams in one single day, from morning till night, starting from dwajarohanam till Dwaja avarohanam. The utsavam commenced yesterday with ankurarpanam, followed by dwajarohanam, was held today morning in the presence of Perumal.

This was followed by Surya prabhai vahanam, Garudasevai, Sesha Vahanam, Hamsa Vahanam, Simha Vahanam, Pallakku, Thirumanjanam followed by theerthavari in the morning session till 2 p.m. Perumal adorned in different vahanams gave darshan in asthanam and Deepa harathi was performed.

During theerthavari, Chakrathazhwar was taken in procession to temple tank and chakrasnanam was performed.

Later in the evening, Perumal gave darshan on Hanumantha vahanam, Aswa Vahanam, Gaja Vahanam, Thiruther, chandraprabhai. Oyyali was beautifully served by the Sripadathangis. It showed the joy of awaited devotees to celebrate the Perumal’s Brahmotsavam.

Dwaja-avarohanam also took place in an aesthetic manner with recitation of mantras in the presence of Sri Sowmya damodara Perumal with His Consorts blessing the assembled devotees.

All the assembled devotees had a blissful darshan on this Sravanam day.
