Masi Magam theppotsavam commenced on 7th February 2022 in Sri Thirumamagal samedha Sri SowmyaNarayana Perumal temple at Thirukoshtiyur. The float festival is being celebrated in a very grand manner with the participation of many astikas and devotees across the state. Vishesha alankaram, aradhanam was performed for the past nine days. Perumal purappadu took place in the mada veedhis in the mornings and in the evenings.

Every evening, perumal purappadu took place in different alankaram in different vahanams. On the second day, Perumal gavedarshan on Yaazhi vahanam. On thirdday, Perumal adorned as SriRama on Hanumantha vahanam, Perumal gave darshan on Garuda vahanam on fourth day. On fifth day, Perumal came in procession in Sesha vahanam, followed by Chapparam on sixth day. Perumal came in procession in Kedayam on seventh day, during which Perumal’s elaichi maalai and kirredom was the highlight of the sathupadi. Perumal came in procession on Aswa (kudhirai) vahanam on eighth day. On ninth day, 15th February 2022, Perumal came in procession as Vennai thazhi kannan in Pallakku.

As a part of rituals and beliefs regarding the float festival, earthen lamps are lit by the devotees praying Perumal to fulfil their wishes. This practise is very special in this temple and many earthen lamps are lit around the temple praharam and the temple tank.

Tomorrow, 16th February 2022, tenth day of utsavam, Perumal would give darshan to the devotees in floating mandapam in the temple tank.
