Today being Chithirai magam being thiru Avatara dinam of Sri Soundararaja Perumal at Nagai, Perumal gave darshan to the devotees on Garuda vahanam. The Sthalapuranam reveals that, on request of Bhoomadevi to protect the universe from the adharma, Sriman Narayanan took avataram on this day, in midst of Soundarya forest.
Thus, this day is considered a very special and thereby Perumal came in procession on Garudazhwar.
