Thillaisthanam Swami Tirunakshatram At Srirangam Dasavathara Sannidhi

Thillaisthanam Swami THirunakshatram at srirangam Brindavanam 2013 -02

On November 20,2013, Vijaya Karthigai Mrighasheersham, Thillaisthanam Swami’s Thirunakshatram was celebrated at Swami’s Brindavanam at Srirangam Dasavathara Sannidhi. Swami’s Brindavanam was cleaned, spruced up and decorated with kolams. The place needs to be renovated and painted in the near future. Thirumanjanam was done to the archa Thirumeni of Swami with milk, curds, honey, turmeric, sandal paste etc, New Kashaya vastram and garlands were offered to Swami. Satrumurai was done and Swami’s thaniyan was chanted. Theertham, Sri Sathari and prasada viniyogam (sakkarai pongal and dadhiannam) took place at Dasavathara Sannidhi.

Thillaisthanam Swami was born in Karthigai Mrighashirsha to Dikshitar Seshadri Acharya.  His family tree could be traced to the 24th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Muth. Swami’s poorvashrama name was Neelameghacharya. He had upanayanam at the prescribed age of  7. Swami had pancha samskaram done by 35th Srimath Azhagiyasingar. He was deeply religious and studied Vedams, Tarkam, Mimasama etc. Swami studied under 35th Srimadh Azhagiasingar and became fully conversant with the practises of Sri Vaishnavism both theory and in Practice. Swami became an Aradhakar at Sri Matam.

Swami served as Antharanga Kainkaryapara to 38th Srimath Azhagiyasingar and received Preksha mantram from HH. On 30th September 1914 Swami donned the ochre robes and assumed the Tirunamam “Sri Sathakopa Ramanuja Mahadesikan” After becoming a sanyasi Swami travelled the length and breadth of India and propogated Sri Vaishnavam. He was an authority on Sasthras and would be consulted in every religious matter from building a temple,  worship procedures, yagya conduction etc. His lectures left people spell-bound and made a deep impact on the listeners.  Swami stayed for long periods at Prasanna krishna swami temple Tulasi Thottam, Bangalore.   He organised the mode of worship at the temple and installed the divyamangalamurthi of AdiVan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan in the temple. During the last stage of his life Swami lived in Srirangam and attained Paramapadaprapthi on May 4th 1956. Swami served Srivaishnava causes for 42 years. Most of the shishyas of Bangalore belonging to Sri Ahobila Mutt are Swami’s shishyas. Though not an Azhagiyasingar, Swami is honoured in the Ahobila Mutt tradition. On Swami’s Thirunakshatram day let us remember the Mahan and be recepients of His grace.
