This is a shame thing for a magazine to publishing like this. In olden days the Vikatan name is “ANANDHA” but nowadays for getting cheap publicity and business they are doing like this. If the Vikatan has gets to publish any other community like this, after that they will see the reaction from that particular community. They also keep it in mind that no Vaishnavite till now cheated anybody after wearing THIRUMANKAPPU in their forehead. So the Vikatan Group should think carefully before publishing also they should not hurt any particular community in the future.

this is the age old joke in our society. Nobody cared for this,so far. people used to say, PATTAI NAMAM .if someone cheats by not returning money or some things to the person, the comment is like this. I do not till now understand, why no one cared about this so far.

I concur with your view. I have been holding similar
opinion all these years, with my conviction getting all the more
justified with the passage of time and with so many atrocities
happening around, more particularly in TN which has been
notorious for such indecent activities on religious front.

Dear Sir,It has become a habit of hindus to redicule the tradition of their subsect from time immorial for we Hindus are not reacting to the offence committed by our people.This is the reason that people of other faith blatantly insult and offend our tradition.Magazines and papers shouldnot offend the Hindus tradition and their beleifs.As said they will not dare to redicule other faiths for it will result in widespread retaliation.I hope good sense will prevail with our people.25.10,12

Very bad . These magazines publish any cheap things to gain publicity particularly making fun of srivaishnava based aspects like “namam”. Also usage of “Govinda thirunamam” when something doesnt work. Unfortunate thing is this has become common between brahmins as well. So just remaining quiet would only worsen the situation .

It is unfortunate that the entire sections of our society make symbolic use of our THIRUMANN for bankruptcy, cheating or getting cheated so on and so forth. I agree we should stand united on this issue and our protests should be strong, sound and heard .

sorry we are still giving respect for you. But you dont have any respect for a very old and very rich dharma followed in our country. Are you not ashamed to criticize one of your old tradition which has been brought up by so many great leader Gandhiji himself was fond of the song Vaishnava Janatho song. If you have guts to put other symbols and criticise that then you cannot run your show then how come you thought you can criticise the sacred symbol of vaishnavites. Because of srivaishnavam still living in this country we are getting rain and you can able to live happily and also you are able to criticise like this. You dont have any rights to critize our community symbol . We are very unhappy with your act.

Yes, it is rather sad that this kind of comment is made on Hinduism. We have to blame first Hindus only. In the name of secularism we freely make wounding comments about our own religion. Even some of the newspapers make such remarks.
The only way of countering this effectively is to wear our symbols whether is Tirumann or Tiruneer (Vibuti). It is becoming less and less common to see people wearing Dwadasa Namam or Vibuti in at least 8 places. Even yajnopaveetham is cast of by our people. Very, vary sad indeed.

it is not only vikatan, all media like cinema,magazines,serials take it granted that bramins saivas and vaishnavas used for cheap comedies like that.If they have guts let them make a cartoon/joke with Christian and Muslims, the very next day their office will be on fire.

I guess this is purely because of division within the Vaishnavite that helps others to take advantage. Lets put our house in order and then fight for cause. I believe that is why such casual remark on Thiruman is made in all sections. We all belong to Him and follow what Sri. Ramanuja showed. Lets take this our oath in his 1000th year. Because of the cheap publicity and due weightage given to advertisements increases the commercial value. But, at the same time politicians in order to fetch minimum guarantee for votes encouraging and discouraging the majority people of Hindus. Wait, the day will come like that of ancient days and world will change, even the western,asian ,europe,American,Japanese,Chinese are started following and learning our mnathras. Not just magazines even political parties take us for granted. All they need is to become popular in the state/country by attacking a group who will not hit back. It is time for us to hit back legally…

If I am correct this magzine was started in the pre-independence days to project our Indian Freedom movemnet.
It is a pity that it is encroaching into the freedom of the Brahmins who wear sacred thiruman in their foreheads. This type of malignment is only during the last two/three decades. Lord Sriman Narayanan will take care.

n number of comments abt our community…. these are all spreaded over by the person those who dont have sense at all… they never bothered abt the society too…

I personally condemn this attitude of a magazzine from reputed publisher in my personal capacity as an Iyengar. I have from my childhood days till date use to wear thiruman with pride and devotion. while I use to brush aside the heckle at school and college from my friends as it is from the minds of less knowledgeable of Lord Vishnu , I am pained that such irresponsible act has been committed a mass media. Let the media spread the good feelings of unity in the society. I wish the erring will correct their path.

Some de-generates use our Thiruman to express disappointment. In a recent meeting at a Corporation a counsellor came with “Thiruman” to express her disappointment over the function of that Corporation. I would only appeal to Shri Vaishnavites to boycot such magazines or tv serials. I remember a writ petition has been filed in High Court seeking a direction to curb this nasty habit.

Ridiculing sreevaishnavas and their thirumankaappu is not new. One can see it modern cinemas too. A popular comedian does it even now. At one time, a Politician from a Dravidian Party ridiculed Sri Gopalaswamy, former Election Commissioner, when a reporter questioned the said politician about a poll related issue. Such people should be taken to task and booked under human rights.

Can we start an e-signature campaign to condemn this and send it to Vikatan management?

Ananda Vikatan is known for making such scurrilous and unsavory remarks hurting the sentiments of lakhs of our community. If Vikatan Editor should refrain from such remarks. I remember that Vikatan Editor was imprisoned during 1990s for making obscene comment on women. So similar action is called for this time also.

If Vikatan Editor is having moral courage and tenacity, let him write against E V RAMASWAMI NAICKER, who called entire Tamil community as fools and his followers, so called Tamil Dravidians, are blindly celebrating birth and death anniversaries of their leaders.
