Religious fervour marked the fourth day of Annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy as devotees thronged to witness Lord taking a ride on the celestial tree — Kalpavriksha Vahanam — along with His Consorts. Temple premises, here on March 1st 2016, reverberated with the chanting of ‘Govinda Namam’, as Lord Kalyana Venkateswara went on a pleasure ride around the four mada streets surrounding the temple. According to the legend, ‘Kalpavriksham’ was one of the elements which erupted during the ‘Ksheera Sagara Madhanam’.
The entire event was a magnificent sight of greenery as ‘Kalpavriksham’ was adorned along with the celestial elements of ‘Kamadhenu’ and ‘Chintamani’, which are also known for granting boons to their devotees, indicating that Lord Venkateswara is the embodiment of all the three divine elements. Besides this, Srimad Bhagavatham also says that all those who take shelter under the Kalpavriksham will not have problems of starvation and poverty. It also denotes the importance to be accorded to a pollution-free environment, greenery and promotion of forests. Legends also hail Lord Venkateswara as ‘Kalpavriksham’ as he blesses every devotee with boons sought by them.
