Sri Ambareesha Varadhan temple is located at Keezhavazhuthur near Tanjore. The temple has connections with Thirukkoodalur Divya desam. It is said that the present temple at Thirukkoodalur (Aaduthurai Perumal Koil) was built by Rani Mangammal after the previous structure was washed away by the fury of Cauvery. While they could retrieve the Utsava moorthis, prathishta of Moolavars were done afresh. The Moolavars washed away by Cauvery landed on the opposite banks of Cauvery and a temple was built at Vazhuthur ( or Keezha Vazhuthur) installing the Moolavars.
