Tirumala Jyestabhishekam Concludes

Jyestabhishakam of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, Tirumala has concluded on 22nd June 2013, Saturday on grand note. The three-day utsavam commenced on June 20th, 2013, Thursday this year. Following the festival TTD has cancelled Thiruppavada & Vasanthotsavam Arjitha seva on Thursday. Meanwhile, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy, Sri Devi and Bhu Devi were given celestial bath with “Panchamritams” comprising milk, curd, honey, sandal paste and turmeric after removing golden armour on Lord. This special abhishekam was performed between 8am to 11am. Usually this festival is performed once in a year for three days in the month of Jyestha with festival concluding on Jyestha Nakshatra. As per legend this festival is celebrated to give longivity to the idol of Lord. Later in the evening the Lord adorned in dazzling Vajrakavacham (Diamond armour) was taken on a grand procession around the four mada streets.

On concluding day, the temple priest performed Purnahuthi and later Snapana Tirumanjanam (celestial bath) to the processional dieties of Lord Malayapaswamy and His consorts admist vedic hymns. Further, poojas are performed to the Swarna kavachams of Lord Malayappa swami and his consorts. Later in the evening, Processional deity of Lord Malayappaswamy along with His consorts  wearing the ‘Abhideyaka Kavacham’ were taken out in procession around four mada streets at Tirumala on Saturday. These kavachams not removed till next year Jyestabhishekam. These are adorn to Utsava murthies to protect the original archa thirumenis of the Lord Malayappa Swami, Sridevi and Bhudevi. H.H.Sri Sri Peeda Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala Mutt H.H.Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala Mutt , Temple officials and devotees took part in the divine event.
