இது திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் பற்றியது.
திருமங்கை மன்னன் அரங்கனால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டபின், அவனுக்காக பல இடங்களிலும் பொன், பொருள், திருவரங்கத்தின் திருமதிளைக் கட்டினான். இவர் பெயரில் “ஆலீ நாடன் திருச்சுற்று” ஒரு திருச்சுற்று உள்ளது. நம்பெருமாள் ஆழ்வாரை பார்த்து
” உம் விருப்பத்தைக் கேளும்” என வினவ
ஆழ்வார்,
“நம் பக்தர்களுக்கு உயர் கதி அளிக்கவேண்டும்’, என ஆழ்வார் கேட்க,
“உம் வாளை வேகமாக வீசும், அது எங்கு விழுகிறதோ அங்கு இறுதிச் சடங்குகளை செய்பவர்களுக்கு உயர்கதி அளிப்போம்”,
என்றான் அரங்கன்.
ஆழ்வார் தான் வாளை வேகமாக வீச, அது வடதிருக்காவிரியின் கரையில் விழ, அங்கு “பாடிய வாளன் துறை” என்ற பெயரோடு இறுதிச் சடங்குகள் நடைபெறும் இடமாயிற்று.
அப்படி பாடுவாந்துரையில் இறுதிச் சடங்குகள் நடைபெற்றால் உயர் கதி நிச்சயம் .
