Recently a series of videos was produced and released in honor of His Holiness Srimath Villivalam Azhagiyasingar, the 45th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Muth. This video series was released officially during the recent Sri Ahobila Muth USA’s AchAryA day event held in the Washington, DC area. This video documents His Holiness’ greatness and the glorious golden period under His leadership of Sri Ahobila Matam as the 45th Azhagiyasingar.
The video series starts with a short introductory Anugraha BhAshanam by His Holiness Srimathe Srivan Satagopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan, the 46th Azhagiyasingar of Sri Ahobila Matam talking about Villivalam Azhagiyasingar’s eminence and achievements. Then, Sri U Ve P.K. LakshminarasimhachAriAr, thirukumArar of Villivalam Azhagiyasingar, recounts the history of His Holiness from His avathAram to His sanyAsa Ashramam and documents His many great qualities such as His anushtAnams, brilliance, knowledge, oratory skills, perfection yet simplicity and detail oriented in everything He did, soulabhyam, extreme AchArya bhakthi and above all, His steadfast loyalty and attachment to Sri Ahobila Matam.
This is followed by a series of 7 videos wherein our Sri Ahobila Matam ArAdhakar, Sri U Ve EsayanUr Sridhara SatagOpachAriAr, gives a well researched scholarly discourse, with many references to AzhvArs and pUrvAchAriAr’s works, on the virtues of His Holiness, Villivalam Azhagiyasingar. He starts off with a discussion of the uniqueness and speciality of Sri Ahobila Matam. He then compares Srimath Azhagiyasingar to the DasavathAra perumAls, the 8 qualities of Lord Lakshminarasimhan as expounded by Swami Desikan in His kAmAsikAshtakam stOtram, AzhvArs and pUrvAchAriArs(45 qualities in all). He further explains how every event in Azhagiyasingar’s life, from His avathAram day to the day on which He attained His AchAryan’s thiruvadi, denoted something significant. This discourse highlights the deep knowledge and extreme AchArya bhakthi of Sri EsayanUr Swami.
Finally, in the last video, a few of the kainkaryapArAs that were associated closely with His Holiness talk about their experiences interacting with Azhagiyasingar.
