As part of the ongoing Vijaya Varusha Oonjal Utsavam at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Divya Desam, Day 7 utsavam was celebrated today in a grand manner with Nel Alavu Kandarulal. Today, Namperumal along with Ubhaya Nachiyars had purappadu from moolasthanam at 6 pm. At 7 pm, ‘Nel Alavu Kandarulal’ took place. Namperumal personally inspected the granary and witnessesed the measurement of paddy that have accrued. The quantity of paddy also symbolises the prosperity of the kingdom. Thereafter, Namperumal made His way towards Thayar Sannadhi and had darshan of Ranganayaki Thayar, who presented the Lord with Thiruvanthikapu as a measure of protecting the Namperumal from Drishti. This is followed by the usual Oonjal Utsavam and Namperumal will return to moolasthanam at around 10:15 pm.
Oonja Utsavam, which is celebrated for 9 days at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Divya Desam, commenced on October 22, 2013 (Tuesday). The utsavam will conclude on October 30, 2013. During this utsavam, Namperumal has Oonjal Utsavam in Oonjal/Dolai Mandapam everyday evening from around 6 pm to around 9 pm. There will be special alankaram for Perumal on all the days. Important utsavams will take place on Day 7 with Nel Alavu Kandarulal and on Day 9 (October 30, 2013) with Theerthavari in Chandra Pushkarni and thirumanjanam for Namperumal in the morning and Oojal utsavam satrumurai in the evening.
