Vijaya Varusha Thirupavithrotsavam was conducted at Sri Venkateswara Temple, Helensburgh, NSW, Australia (Sydney Australia) from November 15th to November 17th, 2013. Pavithrotsava is derived from the combination of two words Pavitra (holy) and utsava (festival). This utsava is penitential as well as propitiatory and its main objective is to get rid of the evil that might have been caused due to omissions and commissions in the performance of various rituals throughout the year. The festival is also known as Sarva Doshopasamana
On Day 1 (Friday, November 15th), the morning session included- Nithya Pooja, Punyaha vachanam, Thirumanjanam for Sri Venkateswara Utsava moorthy, Thayar Sri Mahalakshmi, Sri Andal as well as Sri Ramar sannidhi, Sri Sudarshanar, Sri Viswaksenar and Periya Thiruvadi – Sri Garudazhwar. In the evening, Nithya Pooja, Samkumba Pooja, Soma Yagm, Vasthu Pooja, Vasthu Homam, Rakshabandanam and final evening pooja took place. On Day 2 (Saturday, November 16th), the morning session included Nithya Pooja, Punyaha Vachanam, 108 Kalasa Pooja Homam, Ashishegam, draping of Pavithra on Lord Venkateswara, Vishsesha Pooja, Yagasala ceremonies, chanting of Vedas, Bhagavat Geetha, Divya Prabhandam Thiruvoimozhi pausrangal. In the evening, Nithya Pooja, Yagasala Pooja, Purnahuthi, Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam chanting followed by evening pooja took place well. On Day 3 (Sunday, November 17th), Nithya Pooja, Shanthi Homam, Maha Poornahuthi, Abhishegam & Alangaram took place followed by procession of Sri Venkateswarar, Sri Devi and Sri Bhudevi Utsava moorthys around the temple on Garuda Vahanam, Punyaha vachanam, Holy immersion of the deities and concluding ceremonies of the festival.
