Paduka Sahasram Avathara Utsavam At Srirangam Ul Desikan Sannidhi: Day 3

Swami Desikan_Srirangam_24

On December 6, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Karthigai Uthirradam, Day 3 of Paduka Sahasra Avathara Utsavam was celebrated at Srirangam Ul Desikan Sannidhi. So far 14 Paddhathis have been covered. While it is taking us so much time to read Swami’s creation how did Swami Desikan create thiis masterpiece potent with layers of meaning within the span of one night?  Srimadh Padhuka Sahasram was possible because Swami Desikan was avatharam of Srinivasa or His Ghanta. Swami Desikan remembers Valmiki, Vyasa and Narada muni who created Srimadh Ramayana, Mahabhartha and the Sankhshepa Ramayana. When one has the strength of acharyan, success is certain. In SriPadhukasahasram wherever the word Padhuke is used it means acharya. Padhuka also connotes a pradhana shishya. Who is a pradhana shishya? The shishya who gets samashrayanam, Bharanyasam and does kalakshepam under the same guru and becomes a kalakshepa adhikari is called a Pradhana shishya. Madhurakavi is the Padhuka of Nammazhwar, Mudaliaandan the Padhuka of Bhaghavadh Ramanuja. And an acharya has the power to command Sriman Narayana and offer the shishya’s athma at His feet. In sum the way to reaching Moksham is the worship of Padhukas (Acharyas). Padhuka SahasraParayanam started at 7.15. Devotees reached the temple in advance to light ghee lamps at Thayar Sannidhi where Sahasra deepams were offered. MettuAzhagiasingar was also lit up with rows of mud deepams.

At Swami Desikan’s sannidhi Rathnasamanya Paddhathi, Bahuratnapaddhathi, Padmaraga Paddhathi, Muktha Paddhathi and Marakatha Paddhathi were chanted in chorus by almost 200 devotees. Vidvan Ubha Ve Adoor Aasuri Madhavachariar Swami, Pradhana shisya of Tirukkudanthai Srimadh Andavan blessed the gathering with a short talk on slokam-15 of Prabhava Paddhathi. Swami Desikan in this slokam avers that those who have taken Samashrayanam and Bharanyasam will never visit naraka. Yama the servant of Sriman Narayana has no hold on SriVaishnavas. SriRangamvasis who have the fortune of having SriSathari(Padhukas) on their heads will not experience fear of death. Swami is giving Kalakshepam on SriRanganatha Padukasahasram at Sathajith Bhavanam on Chitra Veedhi between 4.30-5.30 p.m every day.  .Each day is a beautiful experience and should not be missed by interested SriRangam residents. It is Swami’s wish that 1000 devotees should chant Sri Padhukasahasram together on the strees of SriRangam with Swami Desikan’s vigram or atleast a photo of Swami Desikan, and Swami Desikan should make this happen. While upanyasam was on,  prasada viniyogam was done. Today it was mixed vegetable rice and jaggery ladoo. The madapalli kainkaryaparas need special praise for preparing tasty prasadams and more so for patiently serving the huge crowd of devotees.
