Sri Lakshmipathy Seva Samithi, Kallidaikurichi, has proposed to perform the kumbabishekam of Sri Adi Varahar temple, in 2014 after a gap of 26 years. The last samprokshanam was performed in 1987. Situated on the bank of River Tamirabarani at Tirunelveli, the temple is believed to have been created by Lord Kubera. Muthuswamy Dikshitar, who visited this temple during one of his pilgrimage has composed a song in praise of the deity.
Though the temple has withstood the rigours of weather, the small idols adorning the vimanam have either been damaged or disfigured. In an effort to bring back the lost glory, the Samithi has undertaken the repair work that includes electrical and plumbing works, prevention of water seepage from the ceiling, and painting of vahanams.
As the preliminary step towards the consecration, parihara homam and balalayam for vimanam, sayana perumal and rajagopuram were performed for three days.
Contributions are solicited to perform the samprokshanam. Donations in the form of cheque/DD, drawn in favour of Sri Lakshmipathy Seva Samithi on State Bank of India/Canara Bank payable at Ambasamudram/Kallidaikurichi, may be sent to the Samithi, 51/24, Sannathi Street, Kallidaikurichi – 627 416, Tirunelveli district.
