On 27 August 2015, Manmadha Varusha Aavani Uthiradam, The annual Pavitrotsavam for Kanchi Perarulalan commences in grand manner with Ankurarpanam at Sri Devarajaswami Temple, Kanchipuram. On this day Vishvaksenar ascends the Hasthigiri hill and after taking permission from DevaPerumal comes down to make rounds and ‘Mruth sangrahanam’ takes place. Ankuram means sprouting of seeds. Holy mud is gathered at Nammazhwar sannidhi. Punniyagavachanam and Bhoosuktham chanting were done by the Vedhapaarayana Miraasdhars of the above temple heralding the start of the utsavam. Vishvaksena removes all obstacles that come when good deeds are performed. Praise be to the Commander-in-chief of Vaikunta sena who comes in the third place in our guru parampara. He incarnated as Nammazhwar and Mruth sangrahanam at his sannidhi is significant.
