4/9/2015 was the concluding day of Manmatha Varusham Pavitrotsavam at Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal temple. In the morning Vedic offerings were done infront of kanadi-arai Tirumanjana mandapam while the yagyam was conducted yatha-vidhi at the yaagasala.
Evening was totally festive. Devotees had made beautiful kolams along the route Perumal would be taking. As we climbed the Atthigiri mount beautiful kolams some small and some big caught our attention. Kainkaryams of this kind are to be appreciated. As we stood to have darsan of Deva Perumal we saw bhattar swami carrying a bunch of pavitra malas. We made our way down to look at Perumal as soon as He would emerge out of the mandapam. The purappadu did not take the Alavandar prakaram but went straight to swami Desikan sannidhi to give Srisathari and maryadhai. The Vedic chanting as also divyaprabhandham chanting started from here itself. Also Perumal with ubhayanachimars traversed not only sannidhi street but also the Mada Veedhis. Being a Friday everyone residing on the veedhis were elated and made beautiful kolams and waited with their offerings. What a blessing it is when Perumal comes to our doorstep preceeded and followed by a huge congregation of srivaishnavas chanting both Tamil and sanskrit vedams! After completing His rounds Perumal along with the ubhaya nachimars entered the mandapam decorated with perfumed colourful flowers. The kili mandapam was packed with devotees. At the yaagasala bhattar swamis were performing dwara ,kumba, mandala & sri perumal pujas. The navadhanyas had sprouted and everyone waited for the poornahuthi . Perumal wore orange silk vastram with blue border and ubhya nachimars dressed in dazzling peetambaram(yellow silks) were taken uphill in separate thottis . The maha kumbam was taken from yagasala and kumbaprokshnam to Sri perumal was done by rakshabandhana archakar swami. After prokshanam the holy water was taken to ananthasaras pushkarani where several devotees waited to have the holy water sprinkled on them. Prayers to get married and to have children have been fulfilled for many bhakthas. It was 3.00 a.m.(5/9/2015) when the seven day Pavitrotsavam was completed.
