On 15th October 2015, Manmadha Varusha Purattasi Swathi, Navarathiri Brahmotsavam was grandly celebrated at Tirumala Tirupathi Divya desam. On this occasion, in the morning Perumal had purappadu im Chinna Sesha Vahanam. Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy on Thursday evening was taken out on the charismatic Hamsa Vahanam draped in pleasant white silk vastrams as a part of the ongoing Navarathri Brahmotsavams. The processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy seated majestically on Golden Swan, holding Veena in His hand was taken on a celestial procession around four mada streets. In Puranas, Hamsa has many names viz. Sveta Garut, Chakranga, Kalakantha, Sitacchida, Sitapaksha, Manasalaya and Manasuka. Hamsa is the symbol of purity and has the intellectual capability of distinguishing good from bad. Hamsa is the bestower of Knowledge. Hamsa means Paramatma, Yogi, Guru and Mantra.
