Dhavanotsavam was performed in a grand manner at Thiruvallikeni. On March 24th 2016, in the morning Sri Varadaraja Swami with His Ubhaya Nachiyars had Thiruveethi Purappadu to Dhavana Mandapam and Dhavanotsavam was performed. Later in the evening Divyadampathis had Thiruveethi Purappadu back to temple. Grand satrumurai and sevakalam took place with arulicheyal and veda parayana ghosti. Many devotees participated in the Dhavanotsavam and received the blessings of Divyadampathis.
Dhavanam is a fragrant herb which is good for health if we smell it. Dhavana Utsavam means Sri Perumal adorned with Dhavana Maalai and goes for Thiruveethi Purappadu. So in the Tamil months of Maasi/Panguni we have ‘Dhavana utsavams’ at temples.
