On 23 january 2022, Thai hastham, being Koorathazhwan thirunakshatram, was celebrated in a very grand manner in kooram, which is the birth place of Sri Azhwan.
Koorathazhwan was born in an affluent family, as the son of Sri Koorathazhwar. His original name was Srivatsangar. Sri Ramanujacharaya named him as Azhwan. He was a disciple of Sri Ramanujacharya and assisted him in composing Sri Bhashyam.
Today, being avatara dinam, Purappadu took place in a grand manner with thirukodai. Many astikas participated in the utsavam. Local residents enthusiastically participated along with the bhajan goshti.
