19th March 2016 (Panguni Pushyam) was the third day of Panguni Utthiram utsavam at Varadaraja Perumal koil, Kanchipuram. It being ekadashi Perumal with ubhayanachimars and Malayala Nachiyar blessed devotees with ‘Tirumanjana Sevai’ in the morning. It being a Saturday lots of devotees visited the temple and some had the bhaghiam of enjoying the Tirumanjanam at the ‘kanadi-arai mandapam’ at about 9.30 a.m.
In the evening Perumal along with ubhayanachimars and Malayala Nachiyar did the rounds of Sannidhi Street blessing everyone who came by. After returning to the temple oonjal took place at the entrance of the hundred-pillared mandapam followed by Tiruaradhanam. Perumal wore the famous Venkatadhri crown. Ubhayanachimars also wore similar crowns with an emerald at the centre. Malayala Nachiyar was dressed in a rich red saree with jari checks and ubhaya nachimars wore red silk too. Perumal was so covered with ornaments it was difficult to see the colour of His Vastram. With the golden prabhai background and His majestic crown He was a ‘thanga’ (gold) vigraham.
As the aradhakar swami offered mudras in worship and the tulasi leaves carefully de-stemmed were laid gently at His Feet after stotras and sukthams were chanted one remembered how Perumal should be worshipped. He should treated as an infant, He should be treated like a young king(with alertness and care) and as Devadiraja, the king of the entire Creation. Privileged are those who can touch Him and offer worship. After theetham, Srisathari and prasadam distribution Perumal, ubhayanachimars and Malaya Nachiyar returned to kanadi arai.
