Today, August 9th, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Aadi Pooram, is a very important day for Srivaishnavas. It is Thiruvadipooram, the day our beloved Andal took Avatharam in the Nandavanam of Periyazhwar in Srivilliputtur and made two important offerings: Poomalai (flower garlands) and Paamalai (garland of praises). It is the dream of every Srivaishnava parent to see their daughter in Andal kondai and Aaraku koorai, rolling coconuts to the recitation of Varanamayiram. Her 30 verses of Thiruppavai contain the essence of Srivaishnavam. In Srivilliputtur, everyone treats Her as their very own daughter and offer tambulam for Kanu Pongal.

At Dasavatharan Sannadhi, where HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan is observing the 19th day of Chaturmasya Vratham, there were double celebrations:

  • Andal Thirunakshatra Mahotsavam and
  • The Thirunakshatram celebrations of HH 26th Srimath Azhagiyasingar Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan

Divya Prabandham parayanam started at about 7.00 am at Utthara Veedhi Sri Ahobila Mutt wherein is housed the DivyaMangalamurthi of HH 26th Srimath Azhagiyasingar. At Dasavatharan Sannidhi, there was special Satrumurai for Sri Andal followed by Satrumurai for Azhagiyasingar, Perumal and Acharya Sambhavanas. After Mangala Harathi and offering of upacharams to the deities in Swarna Mandapam (golden fan, chamarams, golden umbrella, etc), Theertham and SriSathari were given followed by Prasada Viniyogam (Manja Pongal and fruits). Incidentally, Manja Pongal is made with rice and thuvaram parupu with turmeric powder and seasoned with cashewnuts, jeeragam etc fried in pure ghee. It is an auspicious offering. It was about 9.30 am when the goshti was done. Samashrayanam and Bharanyasam were done afterwards.

Vastram and Malai Maryadhai for HH 26th Srimath Azhagiyasingar were taken in a procession to Utthara Veedhi Mutt by Dasavatharan Sannidhi Aradhakar. The Aradhakar of Ahobila Mutt offered the same to the Divya Mangala vigraham of HH 26th Srimath Azhagiyasingar. Satrumurai, Theertham Sathari and Prasada Viniyogam (Rava Kesari and Manjapongal) followed.

HH 26th Srimath Azhagiyasingar took avatharam in Gadhadharapuram in the Tamil month of Adi under the constellation Pooram. He was called to Sanyasam in Prajothpathi, Kartigai Sukla Panchami (November 21, 1811). During His Sancharam, the then Mysore Maharaja invited Srimath Azhagiyasigar and presented the golden swing (dolai) and Silver Mandapam for the deities. He offered several ornaments and several villages. This Srimath Azhagiyasingar constructed the Sriviiliputtur Ahobila Mutt. This Azhagiyasingar was a special recipient of Andal’s mercy. This Srimath Azhagiyasingar wrote the Ahnikam which is the basis for HH 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar’s Ahnikam. HH attained Paramapadham in Sarvadhari Margazhi Suklapaksha Chathurdasi (December 20, 1828). His Brindavanam is at Sri Nrisimhapuram.
