The annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple, Tirupathi, commenced on June 3, 2014 with Ankurarpanam. Yesterday, Viswaksenar had thiruveedhi purappadu followed by special pujas in Yagashala. Today (June 4, 2014; Jaya Varusha Vikasi Ayilyam), Dhwajarohanam took place in Karkata Lagnam between 9am to 10am. Garuda Kodi was hoisted atop the Dwajasthambam amid chanting of Vedas. In the evening, Pedda Sesha Vahana purappdu is scheduled to take place between 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The 9-day Brahmotsavam will take place between June 4th to 12th. Usually the annual brahmotsavams are performed in the holy month of Vaisakha and Rathotsavam happens to be the most interesting event as it covers over 2km through the main streets of Tirupati encircling the temple. Thousands and thousands of pilgrims and local devotees takes part in this age old event.
