As part of the ongoing Brahmotsavam at Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple, Tirupathi, today, June 6, 2014; Jaya Varusha Vikasi Pooram, Day 3 of the utsavam is being celebrated in a grand manner. Sri Govindaraja Perumal had purappadu on Simha Vahanam in the morning. A new Lakshmi Haram was offered to Govindarajaswamy by TTD today. Prior to that, the Haram was taken on a procession. Perumal is scheduled to have purappadu in Muthyapu Pandiri in the evening.
The annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple, Tirupathi, commenced on June 3, 2014 with Ankurarpanam. Yesterday, Viswaksenar had thiruveedhi purappadu followed by special pujas in Yagashala. On June 4, 2014; Jaya Varusha Vikasi Ayilyam, Dhwajarohanam took place in Karkata Lagnam between 9am to 10am. Garuda Kodi was hoisted atop the Dwajasthambam amid chanting of Vedas. In the evening, Pedda Sesha Vahana purappdu took place between 7.30pm to 9.30pm. On Day 2, Chinna Sesha Vahana purappadu took place in the morning while Perumal gave darsanam on Hamsa Vahanam. HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar of Tirumala Mutt, HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar are presiding over the utsavam.
The 9-day Brahmotsavam will take place between June 4th to 12th. Usually the annual brahmotsavams are performed in the holy month of Vaisakha and Rathotsavam happens to be the most interesting event as it covers over 2km through the main streets of Tirupati encircling the temple. Thousands and thousands of pilgrims and local devotees takes part in this age old event.
