The 6th year annual Pavithrotsavam Commences on 10th august 2014 in grand manner at Sri Venkatachalapathi Temple at BHEL, Trichy. The pavithrotsavam commenced on 10th august with Acharya varnam, Anungyai, Vishwaksenar Aradhanam,Angurarpanam and Mruthsangraham. On the first three days homam was conducted in both morning and evening, Later perumal Purappadu took place in the evening. Several astikas took part in the Pavithrotsavam and had the blessings of Srinivas Perumal.
The uniqueness of this festival is that all the Lords in the Temple will be adorned with garlands made of cotton and silk threads, known as Pavitra Malais, after the Malais are being consecrated and installed. Homams will be performed mornings and evenings on all the five days, starting from the morning of 11/08/2014. Earlier day (10/08/2014) is the zero day on which evening, the initial AnkurarpaNam rite, which includes Vishvaksenar Aradhanam, Mruth SangrahaNam, Soma Kumba Sthapanam, etc. will be performed. On all the Five Days, in the mornings, more than 70 to 90 Thiru Aaradhanams (individual Pujas), totalling to about 360, will be performed. All the evenings, after Homam and Poornahuti, Perumal Purappadu will be held. Veda Parayanam and Divya Prabhanda Parayanam will be performed during all the time the Homams are performed.
The Pavitra Malais, after the five day festival, will be offered to devotees, which can be worn like Tulsi or Lotus seed malais during prayer times. The main motive of the festival is to take care of known and unknown omissions and commissions in the activities of the Temple, including daily pujas, offerings, etc. and the fruit of performing the Festival is to seek the pleasure of the Lord and for the benefit of the well-being of one and all.
