Manmatha Chitra Krithika, 21st April 2015, at Dasavathara sannidhi Balarama Jayanthi was celebrated with Tirumanjanam to Baladeva the elder brother of Krishna. Sesha incarnated as Lakshmana in Treta yugam and as Balarama in Dwapara yugam. He is accepted as the eighth avatharam of Vishnu and holds the plough. He is known as Haladhara and Swami Desikan addresses Him as “Hela Halin”(one who played with the plough) and describes this avatharam as a mix of milk and sugar. Akshaya Thritheeyai is an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar. Akshaya means continuous /endless. Jewellers have made this a day to sell gold and there is a crazy rush in all shops but actually it should be a day of giving. “A man there was, they called him mad, the more he gave the more he had” goes a saying. This is what akshaya thritheeyai brings. This is the day to do charity. Give to the needy a morsel of food, a glass of water, a decent pair of clothes, footwear or umbrella. This is the day the pandavas got the akshayapatram, Kuchela got his wealth. This is the day the shrine of Badrinath opens. So let us resolve to give what we can next akshaya thritheeyai.

The following are some of the photos taken during the occasion..
