Sri Vedanta Desikan’s 744th Thirunakshatram Utsavam at Sri Vaikuntanathji Mandir, New Delhi
With the blessings of HH Srimad Andavan (Srimushnam) Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan, the 744th birth anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan, the great srivaishnava acharya, celebrated poet, logician and philosopher of the 13-14th century was celebrated in the temple for 10 days from October 7 to October 16, 2011.
During this period, veda parayanam and sevakalam took place in the morning and evening. Further, the archakar also performed thirumanjanam to Swami Desikan everyday. Procession (purappadu) of Swami Desikan around the koil prakaram also took place everyday.
As part of these celebrations, a Maha Sudarsana Homam was performed on October 9, 2011. This was preceded by Maha Sudarsana Japam on the previous day (October 8).
On the concluding day (October 16), a procession (purappadu) of Lord Ranganathar on Garuda vahanam along with Swami Desikan took place in the evening.
