Kalale is a village, 6 km away from Nanjanagud in Mysore District.This is not only a Pouranic place but also a historic place too. Pouranically it is known as Kapilashrama, Venupuri etc. Historically it is known as a place of army chiefs called Dalvoys. Since bamboo was grown in plenty here, it was called Kalale , meaning bamboo in sanskrit.
The Lakshmikanthaswamy Temple is very ancient. It is said to have been built by King Janamejaya of Vyasa Bharatha fame. It is believed that Sage Kapila muni,came down to this place to get rid of the sin committed in destroying the 100 Sagara putras of Gangavatarana fame, and did deep penance here.
Lord Lakshmikantha is said to have appeared to the sage and relieved him of the sin.Thus the place is known as Kapilashrama. It is believed that a great demon called Lavanasura tried to disturb the penance and the sage enraged by this created Kaivalyadevi and got rid of the demon. Even to day the people of the village worship Kaivalyadevi as Grama Devathe.
The temple was later expanded by the rulers of Mysore Dynasty. Tipu is believed to have visited the temple and to have donated golden pooja vessels. The temple is too big and there are are several small temples inside the prakara, dedicated to Varadaraja, Sreenivasa, Kodandarama, Rajamannar, Andal, Aravinda Nayaki, Venugopala etc.There are also small shrines of Vedanta Desika, all the 12 Alwars and Manavala Muni.
The car festival this year falls on 29th March 2013.People from accross the state visit the place on this occassion. The night Utsavam,also called Teradi Utsavam, which is acknowledged as equivalent to Vairamudi Utsavam of Melkote,is very famous. The deity is decored with diamond studded Sreekantha Mudi and adorned with jewels and colourful flower garlands presented by thousands of devotees.The deity is taken out in a colorfully decorated Umbrella-Naduchappara, illuminated by colourful lights. The Nadaswaram from eminent musicians from Tamil Nadu add charm to the festival and people throng along the route throughout the Night..
The poojas are conducted as per Pancharatra agama.A committee has been established to take care of the proper conduct of Utsavams and the needs of the pilgrims.A big choultry has been built to accommodate the pilgrims and to feed the devotees during the 9 day festival. The committe was founded by Kalale Sreenivasiengar and later looked after by his sons Sri Lakskmikanthiengar and Pandit K.N. Varadarajiengar.
The committe invites devotees to come in large number and make the festival a grand success. Veda and divya Prabandha parayanas are also held on the occassion.
ಕಳಲೆ, ಮೈಸೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ನಂಜನಗೂಡಿನಿಂದ ೬ಕಿಮಿ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮ.ಇದು ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಂದು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಕೂಡ. ಪೌರಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕಪಿಲಾಶ್ರಮ, ವೇಣುಪುರಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದಿ.ಚಾರಿತ್ರಿಕವಾಗಿ ದಳವಾಯಿಗಳ ಊರು ಎಂದು ಖ್ಯಾತಿ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದಿರು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಕಳಲೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಕಾಂತಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಬಹು ಪುರಾತನವಾದದ್ದು. ವ್ಯಾಸ ಭಾರತದ ಜನಮೇಜಯನಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತೀತಿ.ಕಪಿಲ ಮುನಿಗಳು ಸಗರ ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ಭಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಾಪ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಿ ಶ್ರೀಕಾಂತನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಪಾಪ ವಿಮೋಚನೆ ಪಡೆದರೆಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಪಿಲಾಶ್ರಮ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂತೆಂದು ಪ್ರತೀತಿ.ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಪೋಭಂಗ ಮಾಡಲೆತ್ನಿಸಿದ ಲವಣಾಸುರ ಎಂಬ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನ ಸಂಹಾರಕ್ಕೆಂದು ಕೈವಲ್ಯಾದೇವಿ ಎಂಬ ದೇವತೆಯನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದರೆಂದು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಕೈವಲ್ಯಾದೇವಿಯನ್ನು ಗ್ರಾಮ ದೇವತೆಯೆಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಕಾಲಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಯದುವಂಶ ಅರಸರಿಂದ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಮೈಸೂರು ಹುಲಿ ಎಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಟೀಪೂ, ದೇವಾಲಯ ಸಂದರ್ಶಿಸಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸ್ವರ್ಣ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯ ಬಹು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಸಣ್ಣ ಗುಡಿಗಳಿವೆ.ಪಟ್ಟಾಭಿ ರಾಮ, ವರದರಾಜ, ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ, ಕೋದಂಡ ರಾಮ,ರಾಜಮನ್ನಾರ್, ಆಂಡಾಲ್ , ಅರವಿಂದ ನಾಯಕಿ , ವೇಣು ಗೋಪಾಲ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ.ಪ್ರಾಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ೧೨ ಆಳ್ವಾರ್ಗಳ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಿವೆ.ಜೀಯರ್ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶಿಕರ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳಿವೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯ ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿದ್ದು ಆಕರ್ಷಣೀಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಇದೇ march 29 ರಂದು ರಥೋತ್ಸವ ಬಹಳ ವೈಭವದಿಂದ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಅಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ ತೇರಡಿ ಉತ್ಸವ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಉತ್ಸವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಗ ಬಗೆಯ ಹೂವುಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.ವಿದ್ಯುದ್ದೀಪಗಳಿಂದ ಸಿಂಗರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಚಪ್ಪರದಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ,ವ್ಯಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಉತ್ಸವ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಕಾಂತಮುಡಿ ಎಂಬ ವಜ್ರಭರಿತ ಕಿರೀಟ ಧರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ಒಲಗದವರಿಂದ ನಾದಸ್ವರ ಇಡೀ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಉತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಚೆಲುವ ನಾರಾಯಣ ವೈರಮುಡಿ ಉತ್ಸವಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಬಹುದು .ಹಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಊಟ ಉಪಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲು ದಾನಿಗಳ ನೆರವಿನಿಂದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪಾಂಚ್ರಾತ್ರಾಗಮರೀತ್ಯ ಪೂಜೆ ಪುನಸ್ಕಾರಗಳನು ನಡೆಸಲು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಕಾಂತ ಸೇವಾಭಿವರ್ದಿನಿ ಸಭಾ ಎಂಬ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ೧೯೦೬ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಅಯಂ ಗಾರ್ ಎಂಬುವರಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಕಾಲಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಕಾಂತ ಅಯಂ ಗಾರ್ ಮತ್ತು ವರದರಾಜ ಅಯಂಗಾರ್ ಗಳಿಂದ ನಡೆಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಇದೀಗ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯವರೇ ಆದ ಸಂಪತ್ಕುಮಾರರಿಂದ ನಡೆಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.ಭಕ್ತ ಜನರು ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಒಂದು ಸಭಾಂಗಣವನ್ನು ದಾನಿಗಳ ನೆರವಿನಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗಿದೆ.ದಾನಿಗಳು ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದು ಸಭೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ನೆರವು ನೀಡಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಹಿನ ಉತ್ಸವ,ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಹಕರಿಸಲು ಕೋರಲಾಗಿದೆ.
