8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day. The Strigal Stotrapata goshti of Srirangam honours a “Srirangam stri” on this day by awarding a bag of coins (Rs.1000) along with vethilai-paku highlighting the lady’s contribution to society. This year the award went to Smt. Chandra Seshadri whose contributions are spoken by Babu (Ranganayaki) mami the brain and control behind this group and also by other members.
It was an enthusiastic gathering of women who worked out the details of the function and their team work made the function a success.
It was adiyal’s pleasure to be part of the ceremony and hand over the present and give the ponaadai (silk shawl) presented by the goshti. Citations were presented by some members of the group and Smt. Chandra was overwhelmed by the whole thing and was so moved by the affection poured by them that she was choked to tears.
Sampradaya should be learnt and taught to as many people as we can and stotras are one important means to preserve and spread Sampradaya. Kudos to the evergreen team and may their breed grow every day!
As a representative of Anudinam it was good to receive honours and ponaadai from the goshti and adiyal appreciates it.
