On June 29, 2017 (Hevilambi Aani Pooram), Day 5 of the annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Sathyanarayana Temple, West Mambalam, Chennai, was celebrated well. In the evening, Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal had a grand purappadu on Sri Garudazhawar through the Mada veedhis. Prior to the purappadu, LakshmiHaram samarpanam took place by Swami Desikan. Thereafter, Swami Desikan was honoured with parivattam and Sri Sadari. Earlier in the morning, Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal in Nachiyar thirukolam on Pallakku had purappadu in the locality. Nachiyar blessed all the ubhayadara devotees in front of their residences.
On the previous day (Day 4), Perumal along with Ubhaya Nachiyars had thiruveedhi purappadu on Sesha Vahanam in the morning and only Perumal (Ubhaya Nachiyars in the Kannadi Arai) had purappadu on Yali vahanam in the evening.
About an hour prior to all Perumal purappadu, Sri Chakratazhwar has thiruveedhi purppadu in a small palki (both morning and evening) on all days of the utsavam. The future sripada thangis (kutties) enthusiastically performed purappadu for their small deity (kutty umachi) with superb alankarams on Garudan last evening. They also performed the yesal along with the Periya Perumal.
